About Gesher AC

The Gesher Assessment Centre offers a bespoke diagnostic assessment service for children and young people (4 – 18 years) who may have Autism and other related conditions such as ADHD.

Our assessment process follows the NICE guidelines. An assessment will include a parent interview (3di5/ADI-R) and child facing (ADOS-2) session. During these sessions additional assessments (e.g. psychological, sensory, functional, and communication based) may be selected to explore the key factors in each case to have a holistic view of the child/young person. Our clinicians jointly have a wide range of experience working with children, young people and their families with different needs in the public and private sectors. They have a passion and special interest in the field of neurodiversity and autism. In addition to this our clinicians are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), have been DBS checked and have had safeguarding training.

We accept referrals from parents and caregivers. Schools and other agencies are welcome to sign-post parents for assessments. We will collaborate with your child’s education setting and other professionals as needed.

Why is Gesher’s assessment centre different?

We offer a unique model to ensure parents and caregivers are supported throughout the process.

With our online booking system we aim to reduce the stress and time involved to speak to a clinician. During the triage call we will explore your concerns and whether our assessment is the right pathway for you and your family.

Once we have agreed to continue on the assessment pathway, we will work with you to ensure the assessment, feedback and receiving of the formal report all happen within the shortest amount of time. Following your triage call there will be assessment slots available within the next 6 – 8 weeks.

Our formal report will be clear and concise with a focus on key recommendations to action for your child’s progress. We advocate for a neurodiversity affirming approach and as far as possible use neurodiversity positive language in our reports. Our post diagnostic support includes signposting, strategies and advice. Beyond assessment and feedback, we offer parent support groups that will be facilitated by our clinicians to offer a safe space for parents to meet and discuss their journey.
