Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH)
ACAMH was set up with the aim of providing access to the most up to date research findings and the latest and most effective evidence based strategies and interventions to all those who have an interest or a role in promoting children’s psychological wellbeing.
ACAMH prides itself in being broad based; our community encompasses teachers, speech therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, parents, youth workers and others who work with or have an interest in promoting and supporting children and young people with mental health concerns. By bringing the latest developments in research and practice to a diverse range of educators, clinicians, practitioners and others, we hope to improve understanding and help raise standards in the management of children’s mental health issues.
Throughout the year ACAMH provides conferences, workshops and CPD events both nationally and with a local focus, as well as the internationally known Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry
Preferential prices for members are also available on Wiley books. See our website www.acamh.org for more information. Our events are highly rated and easy to access, with a number of topics now available from our online library. Students and trainees who expect to work with children and adolescents will find ACAMH a valuable and convenient way of expanding their knowledge and enhancing their practice.
We are your local branch and we are keen to make sure that what we provide is both relevant and interesting to you and our local professional and practitioner community. We would like to know more about your needs and interests to help us plan events that will be most useful to you.
Please take a moment to register on our BEAS website – it’s quick and easy. Thank you very much!
Here at West Midlands ACAMH we’d like to extend a warm welcome to all of you who have an interest in children and young people’s mental health and psychological wellbeing. Whether you are a psychiatrist, psychologist, teacher, social worker, nurse or other who supports children in a professional capacity or whether your expertise comes from caring for a young person with mental health issues, we believe ACAMH has something valuable to offer.
Through our webinars, workshops and conferences we aim to provide you with the latest research findings and information on interventions developed on evidence based principles. Our events are credited for CPD.
Our committee is active in building relationships and developing links with local organisations and groups and local universities and providers of professional training. By being an integral part of the wider community involved with children’s mental health issues, we can extend ACAMH’s contribution to the understanding and management of child mental health issues to a diverse range of professionals and others. Through sharing information and best practice we aim to enable you to provide children and young people in the West Midlands with the most up-to-date and effective support around mental health issues.
ACAMH is a great resource for all who have at heart children’s mental health, wellbeing, development, and also the growth of knowledge and understanding through research. We welcome your interest in our local and national committee and activities.
We’d love to hear from you
